Sometimes a few words from the right person arrive exactly when you need them.
Before continuing his Radio Journey, D.B. wants to thank a VMB player named Michael, who recently discovered the podcast through Video Music Bingo and unknowingly gave D.B. some much-needed encouragement to keep going.
Then it's back to Alabama.
Within days of moving to the Muscle Shoals area and starting nights at Star 94.9, something happened just blocks from the radio station that made D.B. seriously question whether he'd made the right decision for himself and his family.
His new boss Brian's reaction—and the response from the community—quickly showed him there was much more to this place than his first impression.
And the night show D.B. worried would be a step backward soon gave him the opportunity to cross another goal off his radio career bucket list: D.B. Nyce at Night was now being heard in multiple radio markets.
And that creepy old building where the radio station was located?
We'll get to that tomorrow.

D.B. thought he knew what living in Alabama was going to be like.
He was wrong.
After his time in Florida unexpectedly came to an end, a six-month non-compete left D.B. looking for his next opportunity. That's when his old friend Fatguy offered him a job doing nights at Star 94.9 in the Muscle Shoals area of Alabama.
Going from mornings back to nights felt like a step backward. Moving to Alabama wasn't exactly what D.B. had pictured for the next chapter of his career either.
But once he arrived, he discovered a place filled with incredible music history, legendary recording studios, fascinating people—and a few surprises that challenged what he thought he knew about Alabama.
And less than a week after starting his new job, something happened that nearly made him leave.
The Alabama chapter of D.B.'s Radio Journey begins.

Joe's birthday has officially become an annual event, and that means one thing... JoeMania is back!
This week, D.B. and Ted relive last year's wrestling-themed birthday party, talk about their favorite wrestler costumes, and somehow spend most of the episode imagining what life would be like if Macho Man Randy Savage had an everyday job.
On this episode:
- JoeMania 41 becomes official.
- Memories from last year's wrestling party.
- Macho Man impressions gone completely off the rails.
- Why Randy Savage would make a terrible grief counselor.
- The voice changer accidentally creates the perfect Macho Man impression.
- A discussion about helium's opposite... and why you probably shouldn't try it yourself.
- Somehow the conversation ends with steroids, baseball, and flood warnings.
It's another episode where two friends start with one topic and end up somewhere neither of them saw coming.

Radio gave D.B. a career, but it also gave him something he never expected—the chance to experience life far outside the place where he grew up.
From New Jersey to Maine, Mississippi, Florida and eventually other parts of the country, every move introduced him to different people, different communities and different ways of looking at life.
In this chapter of the Radio Journey, D.B. looks back at living in beautiful Fort Walton Beach and Destin, Florida, the stereotypes he carried with him before moving to unfamiliar places, and how getting outside his own bubble changed the way he understands people—even when he doesn't agree with them.
Sometimes you have to leave home to understand just how big the world outside of it really is.

After years of chasing the dream, D.B. finally got the opportunity he had always wanted: his own morning show.
But getting there meant learning an uncomfortable lesson—sometimes being good at your job isn’t enough. Sometimes you have to campaign for yourself, win people over, and convince the right people that you deserve the opportunity.
Then came the moment D.B. had been waiting for: saying “D.B. Nyce in the Morning” for the first time.
In this chapter of the Radio Journey, D.B. looks back at finally becoming a morning-show host on Fly 92.1, being recognized by listeners in some unexpected places, and realizing that the biggest reward wasn’t feeling like a celebrity—it was discovering that something he did actually mattered to somebody listening.
And years later, that same feeling is part of what keeps this podcast going.

D.B. has officially been named White Boy of the Year.
Okay, technically it was a T-shirt he found on the Ocean City boardwalk, but that's really just semantics.
This week, D.B. & Ted start with some of the questionable wisdom found on boardwalk T-shirts and somehow end up creating what may be the worst Oreo flavor ever conceived.
Along the way, D.B. talks about a surprisingly accurate tarot card reading, Ted discovers that literally everything he says technically qualifies as a "Ted Talk," and the guys wonder why Oreo can't simply leave a perfectly good cookie alone.
On this episode:
- D.B.'s prestigious new title: White Boy of the Year.
- Wisdom from the Ocean City boardwalk.
- The tarot card reading that freaked D.B. out a little.
- Why every conversation with Ted is technically a Ted Talk.
- Classic Ted vs. New Ted.
- Why Oreo needs to stop messing with perfection.
- The creation of an Oreo flavor absolutely nobody asked for.
- Ted finally admits what really happened to a hotel bed on his honeymoon.
- Teachers finding creative ways to catch students using AI.
- Why D.B. and Ted sometimes don't remember conversations they've already had.
- The strange experience of listening to their old podcasts years later.
- Why wives have probably heard the same stories approximately 700 times.
- And the guys' brilliant strategy for finding out whether Sherry and Steph actually listen to the show.
If there's no D.B. & Ted next Sunday...
You'll know what happened.
New episodes of D.B. & Ted are released every Sunday.

D.B. & Sherry are back together in the newly rebuilt Studio 42—and apparently Sherry has some very specific ideas about who should play them in the movie of their lives.
After catching up on their week, the conversation somehow turns into Sherry desperately trying to remember Meg Ryan's name, movies everybody loves that they've never watched, D.B.'s failed attempt to introduce Sherry to Star Wars, and the realization that if it's not Hallmark...Sherry probably isn't interested.
Then D.B. asks one simple question:
Who should play me in the D.B. & Sherry movie?
Sherry's first choice?
Peter Griffin.
Meanwhile, Chanel discovers all the wires underneath the new studio desk and eventually decides when the show is over.
It's another completely normal episode of D.B. & Sherry.

That outrageous phone call you heard on the radio? It might not have been nearly as spontaneous as you thought.
D.B. spent more than two decades working in radio, and on this chapter of the Radio Journey, he's pulling back the curtain on some of the tricks stations and personalities have used to get listeners talking.
Because in some ways, radio wasn't all that different from professional wrestling.
Stage names. Characters. Manufactured situations. Planned outcomes. Backstage politics.
D.B. explains how a strategically placed caller could turn a boring topic into phones ringing off the hook, remembers an outrageous stunt from Philadelphia radio that convinced an entire town to join the joke, and breaks down why those dramatic "gotcha" segments you've heard on morning radio aren't always what they appear to be.
But that leaves a bigger question:
If the audience is connecting with something that isn't real...is that actually good radio?
D.B. wrestles with his own answer and explains why, after all these years, he believes personality and authenticity matter more than the gimmick.
And next time, the Radio Journey returns to Florida—where D.B. learned about another thing radio and professional wrestling have in common:
backstage politics.
